Animation for the assignment

It is always hard to think about doing something when you don't know yet how will your knowledge & skills will be in a couple of months from now. Therefore, any of the ideas I'm going to post in this Blog towards the assignments may be modified (improved, simplified or just changed) depending of the time I have and what am I capable of.

Since animating characters seems incredibly time-consuming, my animation is going to contain no characters on it (unless non-moving ones). I am going to use different technologies from the Star Wars Universe for the models of the first assignment and then, those models (and other simplified ones) to make the final animation.

My simplified idea for the animation will be < A rebel anti-air turret shots down an empire spaceship >. I still don't know how exactly am I going to present this event but I am working on the storyboards and will post it here as soon as I am happy with it.

What I do know is two of the three models I need to model for the first assignment. I will be modelling the imperial spaceship (not sure which one yet, an imperial shuttle or a TIE Fighter perhaps), the anti air turret (which will be my own design) and maybe the rocket that will be shot, but I am not sure about the last one.

I have been drawing a first idea for the AA-Turret and how it is going to move (when it rotates to aim or shoots), but as I said this will surely be modified in one way or another:
