Week 8 Exercises

Camera Following a Path

For this exercise I am going to use the PATH CONSTRAINT TOOL. This will allow me to select any object (cameras included) and make them follow a path that I previously drawn using the splines (arc, line, etc...). I find this technique incredibly useful because I can plan and then draw the animation however I want and then I just have to play with the timeline to make the animation happen faster/slower or to coordinate different objects.

I will be using this a lot for the final animation but for this time I will just create a simple box and I will spawn a camera target and will position the target in the centre of the cube. Then I am going to create an arch spline that goes over the cube and this will be the path that the camera will follow.

Then I will select the camera and I will apply the path constrain tool on it. I will then set the path to to the arc and there we have it.

Now, If I move the camera it will never go out of the path and I can see in the perspective viewport (changed in order to see what the camera sees) how the camera follows the arc and always points at the cube.
